The fluorine nuclear magnetic resonance spin-lattice relaxation rate (1/T1) of the perfluorochemical blood substitute perfluorotripropylamine (FTPA) is very sensitive to oxygen tension. This presents the possibility of measuring blood oxygen tension by 19F MR imaging. We obtained oxygen-sensitive 19F NMR images of the circulatory system of rats infused with emulsified FTPA. Blood oxygenation was assessed under conditions of both air- and 100% O2-breathing. T1 relaxation times were derived from MR images using a partial saturation pulse sequence. The T1 times were compared with a phantom calibration curve to calculate average blood pO2 values in the lung, liver, and spleen. The results showed marked, organ-specific increases in blood oxygen tension when the rat breathed 100% O2 instead of air.  相似文献

The magnetic phase diagram of a geometrically frustrated triangular-lattice antiferromagnet is evaluated as a function of magnetic field and anisotropy using a trial spin state built from harmonics of a fundamental ordering wave vector. A noncollinear incommensurate state, observed to be chiral and ferroelectric in CuFeO2, appears above a collinear state with 4 sublattices (SLs). The apparent absence of multiferroic behavior for predicted chiral, noncollinear 5-SL states poses a challenge to theories of the ferroelectric coupling in CuFeO2.  相似文献

We have investigated the interband and the intraband absorption properties of Ge/Si self-assembled islands. The investigated structure consists of a p–i–n junction containing Ge/Si self-assembled islands embedded in a Si0.98Ge0.02 waveguiding layer. The variation of transmission associated with carrier injection under forward bias is monitored both in the near-infrared and in the mid-infrared spectral ranges. We show that the carrier injection leads to an absorption resonant at 185 meV which is polarized along the growth axis of the islands. This transition corresponds to an intraband optical transition from the island ground states to the two-dimensional wetting layer states. This assignment is supported by a two-dimensional band structure calculation performed in a 14 band k·p formalism. Meanwhile, the carrier injection leads to a bleaching of the interband absorption. We show that this electroabsorption spectroscopy is a useful tool for the study of self-assembled islands that is complementary of standard photoluminescence, electroluminescence or absorption spectroscopies.  相似文献

The diruthenium compound [Ru2(O2CMe)4]3[Cr(CN)6] may be the only known material that contains two weakly-coupled, magnetically-ordered sublattices occupying the same three-dimensional volume. Due to the strong easy-plane anisotropy on each Ru2 complex, the moment of each sublattice is constrained to one of the eight cubic diagonals. At low fields, the two sublattices are antiferromagnetically aligned by weak dipolar and deformation energies. But above a metamagnetic critical field of about 1000 Oe, the sublattice moments become ferromagnetically aligned and the net magnetization increases dramatically. We have successfully modeled this metamagnetic transition by assuming that the individual sublattice spin configurations are only weakly distorted by the magnetic field. This model suggests that the ground state of each sublattice undergoes a phase transition at a pressure of about 7 kbar. The drop in the sublattice moment and the rise in the sublattice susceptibility above 7 kbar can be explained by a high- to low-spin transition (S = 3/2 to 1/2) on the mixed-valent diruthenium complexes.  相似文献
